The USAP celebrates Thanksgiving in style! OK, so they move it to a Saturday to better accommodate the field schedule down here, but it is quite a splash! The kitchen and volunteer helpers really outdid themselves. There was turkey, stuffing, green bean casserole (yum!), mashed potatoes, roast potatoes, green beans, sweet potato casserole, crab legs, 2 or 3 kinds of stuffing, salads cut veggies, 5 kinds of pies/cakes, chocolate covered strawberries, cherries fresh strawberries… and chocolate mousse skuas!
I have had a little bit of a wander around town. I can’t go very far because I have not yet had my outdoor training….but the weather is so gorgeous I can’t stay inside. From my boss’s I can see Wedell seals and the airport. I can’t wait until Wednesday when I will go visit one of the seal research group!
I was warned, but I still can’t believe how dry it is here. Thanks to Kari, I use my Udderly smooth every time I walk past it. I seem to be losing the battle with my hands… they are so dry despite all the cream and gloves. On the upside, I have never seen my hair so smooth. It is trying its best to frizz, but can’t quite make it (despite all the hats).
